2025 Edition – 10th Seed Congress of the Americas

Innovation, Collaboration, and Future for the Seed Industry

From September 29 to October 1, 2025, the city of Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, hosted the 10th edition of the Seed Congress of the Americas, organized by the Seed Association of the Americas (SAA) together with the Brazilian Seed and Seedling Association (ABRASEM).

For two and a half days, more than 500 professionals from the seed sector—including business leaders, researchers, regulators, and entrepreneurs—gathered to discuss the challenges, opportunities, and trends that will shape the future of the industry in the region and around the world.

With an agenda focused on biotechnology, sustainability, and international trade, the panels and conferences highlighted the importance of innovation, cooperation, and harmonized policies to drive the sector’s development. Topics such as gene editing, intellectual property, and new technologies applied to agriculture took center stage, highlighting the dynamism and constant transformation of the seed industry.

CONGRESS

The Congress provided an exceptional space for generating business, sharing knowledge, and strengthening alliances. The exhibition floor brought together leading companies that presented their latest innovations, while business roundtables and networking spaces fostered fruitful encounters and new regional collaborations.

In addition, the SAA working groups—on Phytosanitary Issues, Biotechnology and PBI, Seed Treatments, and Intellectual Property—held their meetings, making progress on the main technical and regulatory agendas in the region. The congress also provided a favorable setting for meetings between the public and private sectors, as well as for meetings of the MERCOSUR commissions, reaffirming the importance of ongoing dialogue as a tool for strengthening the regulatory framework and promoting the adoption of innovative technologies.

The participation of government authorities, representatives of multinational and national companies and startups, together with experts and regulators from across the Americas, consolidated the joint commitment to continue building a more integrated, sustainable, and competitive seed industry.
